Description
“In the near future, it is possible to instantaneously measure a person’s mental state, personality, and the probability that a person will commit crimes with a device installed on each citizen’s body called the Psycho-Pass. When this probability, measured by the “Crime Coefficient” index, is too high in some individuals those individuals are pursued and apprehended—with lethal force, if necessary. This task is performed by a special team of potential criminals called Enforcers, who are supervised by police officers known as Inspectors; the Inspectors ensure that Enforcers perform their duties within the constraints of the law. Enforcers and Inspectors employ special weapons called “Dominators” that are designed to fire only on those with a higher than normal Crime Coefficient. The story follows Unit One of the Public Safety Bureau’s Criminal Investigation Division.” -Wiki

Production IG is one of my favorites of all time. They really know how to make a seriously good drama (usually involving military groups of some sort) like Ghost in the Shell, Patlabor and have had a hand in a number of high profile movie series like The Animatrix, Kill Bill and Linkin Parks video “Breaking the Habit”.
First time I saw a clip of Psycho Pass was in an anime/manga store and it looked very familiar. Didn’t know it was Production IG but when I found out, I wasn’t surprised at all. There’s a specific look that they always seem to place on their shows and the mix of CG also is very recognizable I feel.
After watching the first episode, I’m already very interested in continuing. The tension is thick from the start and I was sitting on the edge of my seat by the end. Probably the most interesting aspect of the story so far is the controlled power of the guns “dominators” and the authority of an overall system to decide who can shoot, who can be shot, when, and how. I highly recommend checking it out if you’re at all familiar and fans of Production IGs previous work.
Psycho Pass first aired here in Japan in October. Licenced by Funimation

Dang i was always in doubt if i should watch this and would enjoy it. But reading all this i’m definitely going to watch it. Really the plot outline most anime sites have just don’t do it any justice.
