Well, we have an ongoing Anime thread, so why not a must see anime thread ? and i would also like to hear something about less known Anime series, so please more than naruto and one piece, although i like them both. :D

So first some “bigger” Animes. I really enjoyed deadman wonderland and i hope the manga will go on soon. Lots of blood, because, well, it’s all about blood, so be prepared :D

I would also mention Eureka 7 here, because ist quite popular, but maybe not everyone is aware of it. A really good mecha Anime with romance and stuff, and with a very good character development in the later episodes.

Well now 2 Anime i haven’t watched so far but i heard good things about them, so i will check them out soon:

Bokurano ( some sort of a “darker” evangelion ) and Brave10 ( i think lots of Samurai Action )

So know your thoughts and suggestions.

Really is it that good ? I heard about it but thought it was just Standard Anime stuff. What is it about ? More Story or Action ?

It really is a nice balance between story and action. There is never action that hasn’t got influence on the story.

It is about this ‘NerveGear’, which is some kind of hardware that uses Augmented Reality to let people experience games like they’re real. However, in this one MMORPG there’s no logout button so people are trapped inside. If they die in the game, the NerveGear sends waves that destroys their brains irl and thus kills them. To get released from the game, the players have to kill the last boss on floor 100. You follow Kirito, this boy that was a beta-tester and knows how to play the game.

I would say that there’s lot of story involved. Prepare for relationships that will make you cry, for events that leave you in silence, etc. If you’re looking for action, there is usually a boss fight at the end of each episode and there is always some fighting during the episode. The humour in this anime is pretty good aswell :)
Sorry for giving such a  poor description, but it’s really worth checking out.

No not poor at all. I think i got the Basics. Reminds me a of the .hack series, which has also a mmorpg-centered world.  The OVA .hack//Quantum is one of the most favoured i think.

Well okay i will take a look then, when i have some free time. Thanks.

Sword Art Online would be a great starter but not as an anime, but as a light Novel.  The anime try so hard to copy every detail in the novel, but at the end, they have failed to do so, and because of that, they actually left off some of the crucial story plot for future Arcs.  Therefore, I doubt they are going to continue SAO with another season or OVAs.

And of course, SAO is not that original since .Hack had the similar plotline, but before .hack, there’s also 1/2 Prince (Manga) and Eureka (Manga) those 2 also had the similar plot but never got published into Anime because, 1/2 Prince is a Chinese Manwha, and Eureka is a Korean Manwha.

And as for my Top most recommended Anime I’d give you about 20 ( the sequence doesn’t matter ) with a short summary for each of them.

Toriko (basically about Hunters and Chiefs, with some awesome battles and comedies, category: Shounen)
Beezelbubs (Demon Baby went to Earth, and got taken care by a so call Strongest Delinquent, and he has to raise that Demon Baby, category: shounen)
Rounin Kenshin ( Sammarai Era, with tons of sword clash with some comedy, category: shounen )
Yu Yu Hakusho ( Spirit Dectective that faces off many demons, with awesome battles and comedy, category: shounen)
Deagonball Series < Not gunna explain, pretty sure everyone watched that
Tegen Toppa Gurren Lagann ( Mech Anime with a lot of character developement invovle , category: shounen)
Hajime No Ippo ( Boxing Anime with really good character development, with some comedy as well, category: Shounen )
Eyeshield 21 ( Football Anime, again with really good character development and comedy, category: Shounen
Guilty Crown ( It has a potential to become a great anime, I watch it just for the sound track and the battle sequence, and you can think of this anime as similar to Eureka 7, category: Shounen )
HellSing Ultimate (If you like Vampires and Gore, you will love this anime )
Medaka Box ( More recent anime, with ecchi and kick ass battles and comedy )
Asu No Yoichi ( Another Ecchi anime with comedy and actions )
Kaze No Stigma ( It has potential to be a great anime, but it still good for the voice acting, OST, and battles, also the concept of it)
Any Key Series such as, Kannon, Air, Clannad, Angel Beats ( They are all sorta similar to one and others, with some actions, comedies, story developement and heavy character development.  Also with tons and tons of tears drops, however, I wouldn’t consider Angel Beats their greatest work, and you will know, if you have watched the other 3 first.)
Detective Academy Q ( Similar to Detective Conan, but with less ep and pretty interesting deductive stories and plotline. )
The Shounen Jump Anime , Naruto, Bleach, Hitman Reborn, One Piece ( I don’t think I need to put summaries for those )
Suzuka (Track and Field Anime with heavy romance and tears )
Rumbling Heart ( Slice of life anime with heavy depression, viewer discretion is advice for people who already have a bit of depression )
Battle of Athelets ( Sporty Anime with some comedy and character growths )
To Aru Majutsu no Index ( Another anime that were base on a Novel, but this one actually follow with the novel really closely. )

And That’s all 20 I’d recommend for now, and if you have any other questions or suggestion for me, feel free to mail me too =)!  Have fun read/watching!

Woa pretty long list but pretty good too :D Most of them are already on my “have to watch” list, although guilty crown, rumbling heart and suzuka are new to me. I try to add them but there are so many Anime and manga i want to watch/read so it can take a while. I will write my oppinion in here, when i finished them.

The next three Anime on my list are Mushishi, arakawa: under the Bridge, and Kino no tabi: the beautiful world. So any experiences with them ? Otherwise maybe suggestions for you, but again i haven’t watched them yet.

ah man i Need more TIME. Makes me crazy :D

Well A.Bit.Pixel, I’d say that Mushishi is a pretty boring Anime in my opinion, and the reason for that, it starts out extremely slow and there’s hardly any actions in it.  That anime is more of psychological type, therefore, there are more dialog and talking involve.  Thus, Mushishi, is actually about different Mushishi and their case, therefore, is not 1 single storyline, every ep is with different stoyline. If I remember correctly.  As for Arakawa: Under The Bridge, I think that anime is a really random anime, and lack of plotline, but I might be wrong.  As the last one, I haven’t heard of it, so I can’t tell you anything about it.

Just finished C: Control – The Money and Soul of Possibility and i have to say, i don’t know what to think of it. It kind of flashed me, especially the first episodes were very interesting, but the Anime doesn’t really use all it’s potential.

The 11 episodes were just not enough to cover all relationships and there possible developments, like the ones between the main character and his asset and the People of the “normal” world, e.g. from his work or school. And i personally think that the ending wasn’t very satisfying.

But still, i would recommend this Anime, because it is something different, even if it felt incomplete for me.

I don’t remember where i first heard about this. And it’s not really a serie cause it’s a movie. But anime none the less. And really really a good one. Amazingly well done fighting scenes and a good story to add to it. Really very well made and i enjoyed watching it just now. I do advice to watch it subbed and not dubbed cause the dub really is just strange (and often really bad voice overs as well). Trailer is below and also has the title in it :) .

This was the only subbed trailer btw. so sorry for the poor quality of it.

I really enjoyed ”kokoro connect”. After watching the last episode I became sad because there were no more episodes. :D

Hellsing- This got me started watching anime and I can still go back and enjoy it.

Darker than black- My favorite and I’ve yet to find a story that pulls me in as much.

Kaze no stigma- I like the combination of action/drama/comedy.

Birdy the mighty decode- I have a thing for redheads.

Code geass- Also a good combo of action/drama/comedy.I’m watching Bleach right now for the first time and so far would recommend it as well.

dont watch any mainstream stuff like bleach or naruto, it gets OLD fast with the repeating plot and non-existed character development unless you count the countless porn spinoffs -_-

Kare wa Zombie desuka is pretty funny
Accel world has a cool use of techonology and is worth a watch
BAKAMONOGATRI and NISEMONOGATARI,a long with the movie KIZEMONOGATARI are top notch(those 3 titles are season 1)
    Code Geass is great
Elfin Lied is pretty good too – the random naked lady and blood everywhere
Infinite Stratos is pretty Damn funny and worth a  watch
Eureka 7 is pretty good to if you haven’t seen it yet your missing out
Angel beats hits you Right in the Feels with awesome action and a great story
Psycho pass is pretty cool if you like ghost in the Shell
AND the number 1 MUST watch is EVANGELION(i prefer the Remakes) they are doing but the final one isnt out yet 4 movies( with a 5th one having an alternate ending)they were originally released is the 90′s more or less the Mother of ALL mecha anime

Haha @TechGhost you say don’t watch mainstream and then all you mention is mainstream anime lolz. But none the less i agree with your choices and think everyone should see them. Though Eureka 7 i’d watch both of them and the movie to.

I’d add Full Metal Panic and Ride Back to that list too..
